Taito Egret 3¶
Successor to the Egret II, the Egret 3 is a JAMMA candy cab with a flat 29″ tri-sync (15/24/31 kHz) monitor by Wei-Ya. Still rotatable (TATE/YOKO), but without a motorised mechanism: you turn the tube by hand. Its shell later became the base of the Sammy Atomiswave SD.

Technical notes¶
- Flat tri-sync monitor: accepts 15/24 kHz (classic PCBs) and 31 kHz (Naomi, VGA, HD superguns). Unlike the Egret II, rotation is manual (no motorised mechanism): you pivot the tube to go TATE (vertical).
- Dedicated Taito JVS PSU (3.3 / 5 / 12 V) — often shipped with the Taito JVS-AMP I/O board (built-in amplifier).
- Interchangeable panel: the bay takes 1L6B (1 player, 6 buttons) and 2L12B (2 players) panels; the housing is compatible with Egret II panels and — with adaptation — Sega Astro/Blast/Naomi panels.
- JIS screws.
Shared shell: the Atomiswave SD¶
Sammy reused the Egret 3 shell under licence for its dedicated Atomiswave SD cabinet (2003) — identical dimensions (903 × 750 × 1450 mm), Wei-Ya monitor and Wei-Ya PSU. 2L12B Egret 3 panels drop straight in.
