Other Japanese candy cabs (Canary, Madonna, Pony, City…)

The candy-cab catalogue is huge. This page lists the lesser-known models or those not detailed elsewhere (Taito Canary, Irem Madonna, Pony, the first Sega City, the big Megalo/Teatro…), with maker, year and monitor type. Repair is always the same family of steps → CRT monitor + candy PSU.

Naomi Deluxe Universal Cabinet — the manual has been found, everything is labelled

This page published figures read off the drawing in the Sega Amusements Europe flyer, noting that the flyer named none of them and that the depth was barely legible. The UK owner's manual (56 pp.) is now archived, and it names every figure.

§3.3 NAME OF PARTS, folio 8 — the machine ships as three assemblies, each dimensioned and weighed:

Folio 5, SPECIFICATIONS: Installation Space 1354 × 2381 mm, Height 2144, Approximate weight 308 Kg, Rated Voltage 230 VAC ±10 %, Rated Current 2.1 A, Operating Temperature 5-30 °C. The §3.3 drawing also names the monitor: 38″, and the mains inlet AC INLET (230 V).

Assembled, overall: 1,054 mm wide × 1,981 mm deep × 2,144 mm high, for 308 kg.

What to take away: 78 + 40 + 190 = 308 kg. None of those three blocks is a two-person lift, but none of them weighs 308 kg either — the machine comes apart, and that is what decides whether it fits anywhere.

The 1,882 was a misreading of the scan. Re-read at ×10, the flyer does say 1862: the middle digit is a 6. Three figures out of four were right, and the reading of the drawing — one cabinet height, one overall height — was the right structure; only one digit was misread.

⚠️ Why this cabinet is not in the footprint comparison — checked in the manual on 13 August 2026, not inferred. §3.6 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS lists eight steps, and the first is INSTALLING THE BILLBOARD: the sign is a separate assembly (ASSY BILLBOARD), inserted into the top of the cabinet and held by two M4 × 16 tamperproof screws. It is not part of the cabinet body.

The two published heights bracket the one that would be needed, without giving it:

282 mm separate the two, and the manual does not say how they divide between the billboard and the adjusters. The chart draws a cabinet height; no document publishes one for this machine. As with the G-Balance, it stays out rather than being silently recomposed.

⚠️ A convention gap worth noting: folio 5's Installation Space (1354 × 2381) is not the machine's footprint (1054 × 1981) — it is the service area to allow for, as on the Astro City II and the Super Megalo 2. Same manufacturer, two ways of stating dimensions in the same document.

The flyer specifies a 38″ high-resolution CRT giving "the same visual perspective as a 50″ PTV with the added advantage of no screen burn", acceptance of all Naomi joystick/button games, and interchangeable artwork. It is a sit-down cabinet, distinct from the Naomi Universal Upright that the same flyer names as a separate model.

Two Japanese cabinets from 2008 — Delta 32 and G-Balance

The G-Balance copies the Vewlix's spec sheet, word for word

Its manual (folio 11) uses Taito's two exact labels: 外形寸法（インストラクションパネル含む） and 外形寸法（搬入時）. An independent maker in 2008 therefore adopts the Vewlix's dimensioning convention — two triplets, panel included and as shipped.

⚠️ Hard*Candy crosses the two rows: its entry reads "820 (W) x 781 (D) x 1490 (incl topper 1870)", marrying the 781 depth (panel included) to the 1490 height (搬入時). The manual pairs 781 with 1870, and 530 with 1490.

The Delta 32 has two screens, and a media player

Its English manual (§3 MACHINE PARTS) names a 32 inch main monitor and a 20.1 inch sub monitor, the second driven by an MMP board that plays stills and video off a CF card. A motion sensor control PCB triggers sound when someone walks past.

The manual also gives what no other document on this page gives: the room you need around it. "Make enough space more than W 0.9 m × D 1.6 m", and above all "Make sure door must be over W 0.9 m × H 1.6 m" — a doorway figure, written by the manufacturer.

⚠️ Its figures differ sharply from the Hard*Candy entry (875 × 880 × 1503 / 1610): the manual says 875 × 900 × 1530, overall 1780. 170 mm apart on the total height. Neither weight nor power appears in the manual — the 115 kg / 220 W in circulation remain community figures.

Manufacturer figures — Sega City (1986)

The Sega manual archived here (29 pp.) gives its 仕様 block on folio 2:

Sega writes height → width → depth

縦×横×奥行 — tate × yoko × okuyuki: height, width, depth. Copying "100 × 58 × 71.5" as W×D×H would give a cabinet a metre wide and 58 cm tall, which does not exist.

Rendered in millimetres and named rows: height 1000, width 580, depth 715.

It is the same convention as the Aero City, and it is not the 所要面積 of Sega's export manuals (see Astro City II and Super Megalo 2). The same manufacturer states dimensions two ways depending on the document.

Two corrections, and a manufacturer's typo

The tube is 18″, not 19. This page published 19″, taken from Wikipedia. The manual writes 18インチカラーモニター. The City is therefore smaller than what was published here, and the 19″ has no document behind it.

⚠️ The depth is printed "71.5 m" in the manual — not cm. It is an obvious typo, the other two figures being in cm and 71.5 m making no sense. It is reproduced here rather than silently fixed: if you open folio 2, an m is what you will read.

What this manual is, and what it is not

It is essentially an assembly manual and a parts catalogue: assembling the boxes (§7-8), the side panels (§9-10), the control panel (§11), then eleven folios of parts catalogue (§12, folios 12-22) and the general wiring diagram (§13, folio 23).

It gives no supply voltage, no connector and no scan rate — the 消費電力 line is the only electrical figure in the 仕様 block.

Monitor notes

Most of these fit Nanao / Sanwa / Toei chassis at 15/24 kHz (or tri-sync on the later ones). To identify and repair, see the equivalence table:
