Namco Grigio¶
The 2018 revision of the Namco Noir — the name is Italian for "grey", in the same vein as Noir and Blanc. Same footprint as the Noir, but a Full HD panel, a front headphone jack, a charging USB port and a gamepad as standard.

Correction: the Grigio has no height adjustment
This page claimed the 1270 / 1750 mm pair was "the same cabinet, lowered and raised", and made it "the only cabinet in the family that goes from seated to standing play". That is false.
The Namco manual archived here explains both numbers, and that is not what they are:
- §2 仕様, folio 7: 寸法・重量 — 横幅 (W) 820 × 奥行 (D) 800 × 高さ (H) 1750 〔mm〕, 105 kg(ゲーム PC ボード含めず). That is the installed cabinet.
- §5-2 搬入経路の必要寸法, folio 13: "The size of the machine as shipped is as follows" — 出荷時: 横幅 (W) 820 × 奥行 (D) 800 × 高さ (H) 1,270 〔mm〕, 重量 100 kg.
1270 is the delivery height, with the signboard not yet fitted — the manual devotes its §8A-2 to installing the サインボード Assy. There is no height-adjustment section in the table of contents at all; the only adjustment is the levelling feet (§8A-3).
The community databases print "1270/1750" and "100-105 kg" without saying what they are: they are the shipping figures and the installed figures, merged.

Eighth width/depth inversion — and this time the document exists
This page published 800 wide by 820 deep, after Arcade Otaku. The Namco manual archived here says the opposite, and labels its figures: 横幅 (W) 820 × 奥行 (D) 800 × 高さ (H) 1750, with a two-view dimension drawing carrying the 820 on the front and the 800 on the side.
The page already suspected the inversion — the Grigio claims the same floor footprint as the Noir, and the Noir is 820 × 800 per the Tekken 6 SD-S manual. The suspicion was right; it was only waiting for proof.
⚠️ Two community databases published both orders: Arcade Otaku "800 x 820", Hard*Candy "820 x 800" — the same numbers, the opposite order, and neither declaring which is which. That is exactly why an infobox is not copied without a document behind it.
The Grigio therefore joins the footprint comparison.
49 W is not 49 W in service — and the manual gives the real figure
The 49 W is the cabinet without a game board, and this page could not do better. The manual gives both:
| Consumption | Max current | |
|---|---|---|
| Without a PC board | 49 W | 1.1 A |
| With the EXVS.2 PC board | 200 W | 2.6 A |
That is 151 W (200 − 49) for the Gundam Extreme Vs. 2 PC board alone: the board triples the cabinet's draw. Another board will give another figure: it is the PC that decides, not the cabinet.
What changes from the Noir¶
- Full HD panel as standard (1920 × 1080), where the Noir only reaches it on late Wei-Ya runs.
- 35 kg lighter than the Noir (105 kg against 140 kg) — a real difference when moving it. And 100 kg as shipped, signboard not fitted.
- Same floor footprint as the Noir (820 × 800), but 5 cm taller (1750 against 1700).
- Horizontal screen only (横向き専用): unlike CRT candy cabs, there is no TATE mode.
- Richer player connectivity: a front headphone jack and a stock gamepad held by an anti-theft cable, alongside the panel.
Control panel¶
The Grigio's panel pinout is not documented in the sources consulted. Given the direct lineage from the Noir it is likely to reuse the same connectors — but this is not verified, and a presumed pinout has no place here. In the meantime see the Noir pinout, to be checked against your own cabinet before you rely on it.
Internal assemblies¶
- 🖥️ 32″ Full HD LCD monitor.
- 🎮 JVS I/O board → JVS I/O boards.
- 🎧 Headphone output on the front.
Common mods¶
- PC in the cabinet: JVS and 31 kHz from the factory, panel already Full HD — the easiest of the family to convert. See Modernising a cabinet.
- Vewlix-layout panel: check against your own cabinet before ordering.
Procedure — a cabinet that will not start ✅¶
This cabinet is documented as 100 V
It does not go straight onto a European socket. It needs a step-down transformer rated for the whole cabinet, monitor included — not a travel adapter. Feeding 230 V to a cabinet built for 100 V destroys the supply, and usually the monitor with it. → Cabinet power
What this adds
Ordered for a cabinet, not for a board: mains, low-voltage supply, loom, monitor, then the game. The overwhelming majority of "dead cabinets" are dead for a reason that has nothing to do with the PCB — which is why the board comes last here.
1. Mains, and what sits between it and the cabinet. The switch, the fuse or breaker, the isolation transformer if there is one. A cabinet that shows no sign of life at all is almost never electronic.
2. The low-voltage supply — measured under load. Aim for +5 V where power reaches the board — the JAMMA edge, or the JVS power connector, depending on the cabinet — with the game running, not on an idle bench. If the supply has an adjustment (most candy and JVS bricks do; the ATX brick in a PC cabinet does not), do it then and not before: set off-load, it leaves a board that boots and then glitches. With no adjustment the measurement still earns its keep — it tells you whether the supply holds. Check +12 V too, and −5 V if the board uses it: many do not, and an ATX brick does not provide it. → Cabinet power
3. The loom and the connector. Reseat, and check the grounds — a cabinet with a poor ground gives rolling picture, phantom inputs and noise, all at once, and none of it looks like a wiring fault. Connector on this cabinet: JVS. → Wiring
4. The monitor. This page describes the monitor as: 32″ 16:9 LCD, Full HD 1920 × 1080, 31 kHz. LCD: no high voltage, but a backlight that fades and a panel that is a consumable. A black screen with sound is usually the backlight or its supply, not the panel.
5. Scan rate — the mismatch that breaks nothing. If the board's rate is not one the monitor accepts, you get no picture and nothing is faulty. Check what this cabinet takes against what the board puts out before opening anything. → Modernising a cabinet
6. The control panel. Microswitches and the loom, in that order. A single dead direction is a switch; a whole player dead is the loom or its ground. → Control panels
7. Coin mech and sound. Last, because they hide nothing: a mech that no longer registers is usually dirty or misadjusted, and silence with a good picture points at the amplifier and its supply rails.

- Namco / Bandai Namco Amusement — GRIGIO (B/R) 取扱説明書, archived here: PDF manual, 116 pages — §2 仕様 (folio 7) for the dimensions, weight, voltage, both consumption figures, both maximum currents, the screen, the cash box, the USB port and the headphone jack; §5-2 (folio 13) for the shipping figures. ⚠️ This manual covers the (B/R) variant — blue and red speakers, the Gundam Extreme Vs. 2 one. A 2017 version exists with grey speakers, no gamepad holder and no USB port, used for Tekken 7 FR R2: its figures may differ.
- Arcade Otaku Wiki — Namco Grigio (year, Full HD screen, headphone jack, stock gamepad) — ⚠️ their infobox gives "800 x 820", depth first and undeclared, and presents "1270/1750" and "100-105 kg" without saying they are the shipping and the installed figures — https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Namco_Grigio
- Hard*Candy — Namco Grigio (B/R) — publishes the same numbers in the opposite order ("820 x 800"), undeclared as well; it is where the Namco manual is hosted — https://www.hard--candy.com/wiki/candy?cab=Namco+Grigio+%28B%2FR%29
Not documented: the control panel pinout. No source consulted publishes it, and it is not inferred from the Noir's.
