GC Loader (GameCube)¶
The GameCube ODE: it replaces the DVD drive with an SD card. Paired with the Swiss homebrew, it runs all your game images, no laser.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| System | GameCube (DOL-001 & DOL-101) |
| Type | SD ODE (replaces the optical drive) |
| Level | 🟡 (drive removal; a simplified PNP version exists) |
| Reversible | ✅ |
What it does¶
The GameCube DVD (8 cm mini-DVD) and its laser wear out. The GC Loader plugs into the drive connector and reads ISO images from an SD via the Swiss homebrew loader. Two variants:
- GC Loader (classic): ribbon on the drive connector.
- GC Loader PNP: a plug-and-play version that fits more simply in place of the drive.

Swiss = the Swiss army knife
Swiss (homebrew) is the companion launcher: region-free, video settings, ISO launching, force-progressive, etc. Indispensable on the software side.
Installation (summary)¶
- Open the GameCube, remove the DVD drive.
- Connect the GC Loader to the drive connector (or the PNP version).
- Prepare the SD with Swiss + your ISOs.
- (Often paired) GCVideo HDMI mod for the image.
Before / after¶
| Criterion | Original GameCube | With GC Loader |

How this space is used
Spotted a wrong value, an outdated procedure, a chip reference that does not match your board? Say so here, with what you observed (model, board revision, serial number, measurement). Every report is cross-checked against a source before anything changes — an unverifiable correction is published as “reported by …, not cross-checked” rather than silently applied.
Reading is open to everyone; posting requires signing in with Discord. Reports from the wiki's declared reviewers are handled first; anyone else's are read too, but go through a human before anything is changed.
